Aid project in the Philippines received this year’s prize at North Cape

The Children of the Earth Prize for 2018 has been awarded to the Norwegian-Philippine Sea and Sun Ministries International foundation and its work for poor children in the Philippines. The prize of 150 000 Norwegian crowns (NOK), equivalent to about 15 500 euros or 19 000 US dollars, was presented during a public ceremony at North Cape on June 7th. Some 500 students from local schools on Magerøya island, where North Cape is located, were among the attendees.

The 2015 Prize: Halvard Hasseløy and his Open Heart Foundation


The Children of the World Prize for 2015 was awarded to Halvard Hasseløy (left in photo) and his Open Heart Foundation. For more than 30 years the organization has provided efficient humanitarian aid to the poorest people in a number of Eastern European nations. In 1993 Mr Hasseløy paid his first visit to the Ukraine, and ever since, this country has been the main focus area of the foundation's relief efforts.
